{"id":1990,"date":"2017-09-28T13:51:10","date_gmt":"2017-09-28T20:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ucore.wsu.edu\/assessment\/?page_id=1990"},"modified":"2023-09-11T17:55:54","modified_gmt":"2023-09-12T00:55:54","slug":"diversity","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ucore.wsu.edu\/assessment\/assessments-by-learning-goal\/diversity\/","title":{"rendered":"Diversity"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wsu-row wsu-row--single\" >\r\n    \n<div class=\"wsu-column\"  style=\"\">\r\n\t\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diversity<\/h1>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-row wsu-row--single\" >\r\n    \n<div class=\"wsu-column\"  style=\"\">\r\n\t\n\n<p><strong><em>UCORE courses require students to demonstrate designator learning outcomes that advance <a href=\"https:\/\/daesa.wsu.edu\/undergraduate-learning-goals\/#diversity\">WSU&#8217;s Diversity Learning Goal<\/a> as appropriate to the designator, with a minimum of six credit hours in UCORE-designated courses that include instruction and\/or engagement with Diversity (see the\u00a0<a href=\"\/assessment\/documents\/2017\/04\/map_ucore-requirements-and-7-learning-goals.pdf\">UCORE Curriculum Map (PDF)<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"\/faculty\/the-ucore-curriculum\/\">UCORE Curriculum webpages<\/a>). <\/em><\/strong>At the first-year level, the first-year experience course [ROOT] advances Diversity. At the senior-level, Diversity may be required in the senior capstone experience course [CAPS] as appropriate to the course and discipline. Students also complete at least one Inquiry into Global Cultural Diversity course [DIVR] or Inquiry into Equity and Justice course [EQJS], which advances Diversity, during the UCORE curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: Announced in May 2022,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ucore.wsu.edu\/2022\/05\/03\/ucore-committee-approves-revised-student-learning-outcomes\/\">revised designator learning outcomes<\/a>&nbsp;were approved by the UCORE Committee to help clarify what students, regardless of major, should be able to know and do upon the successful completion of a course in that designator. Additionally, effective Fall 2023,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ucore.wsu.edu\/2022\/10\/18\/wsu-adds-equity-and-justice-designation-to-general-education-curriculum\/\">UCORE added the [EQJS] designator<\/a>&nbsp;to the \u201cWays of Knowing\u201d component of the curriculum, with the requirement that students complete courses in at least six of the seven Ways of Knowing designators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Current Evidence of Student Learning Related to Diversity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\"><em>Click on the headings for current evidence of student learning from key assessments associated with Diversity in the context of the UCORE curriculum:<\/em><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-accordion\">\r\n    <h3 id=\"unique-id-1__96789\" class=\"wsu-accordion__title\">\r\n        <button class=\"wsu-accordion__title-button wsu-accordion--toggle\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"unique-id-1__content\">Capstone [CAPS] Assessment for UCORE<\/button>\r\n    <\/h3>\r\n    <div id=\"unique-id-1__content\" class=\"wsu-accordion__content\" aria-labelledby=\"unique-id-1__96789\">\r\n        <div class=\"wsu-accordion__content-inner\">\r\n            \n<ul class=\"wsu-news-list mw--80ch\">\r\n\t\t\t<li>\r\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/ucore.wsu.edu\/assessment\/2024\/09\/25\/student-achievement-of-caps-designator-learning-outcomes-ay-2023-24-caps-assessment-results\/\">Student Achievement of [CAPS] Designator Learning Outcomes: AY 2023-24 [CAPS] Assessment Results<\/a> \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAs reported in the AY 2023-24 [CAPS] Assessment Summary of Key Evidence for UCORE (PDF), assessment results indicated that 85% of students met or exceeded expectations at the graduating undergraduate level on the designator learning outcome associated with Critical &amp; Creative Thinking. Additionally, 83% of students met or exceeded expectations for Written Communication.
