Students may seek equivalency for UCORE credit earned outside of courses offered through the UCORE program. These may include:
- Courses completed at another accredited college or university. Many transfer courses have already been approved as equivalent to certain UCORE designations.
- Courses completed during or scheduled for an education abroad experience. Many education abroad courses have already been approved as equivalent to a UCORE designation.
- WSU courses that do not hold a UCORE designation, including Honors courses.
Students should work with advisors to complete and submit a petition to the University Requirement Petitions committee: univreq.petitions@wsu.edu. The petition form should include your advisor’s signature. When submitting the petition form, please also include copies of relevant course syllabi, a current copy of the student’s WSU Academic Requirement record, and—if applicable—transcripts from other institutions.
University Requirements Petitions Committee
The University Requirements Petitions Committee meets bi-weekly throughout the year, including during the summer, to consider petitions.
The meetings for spring 2026 are anticipated to take place on the following dates:
- January 13
- January 27
- February 10
- February 24
- March 10
- March 24
- April 8
- April 21
- May 6
The summer 2026 schedule of committee meetings will be available prior to the end of spring 2026.
