Join us for our next UCORE Lunch & Learn, “The Artificial and the Pedagogical: Interrupting the Personal in Writing Assessment,” on Tuesday, November 3rd from 12:10-1:30 pm in CUE 518 (and via Zoom)!
Pedagogical scholarship has encouraged attention to the personal, illuminating a critical link between student success and acknowledging identity in the classroom, especially in writing instruction and assessment (Rochelle Brock; bell hooks). Professor and writer Donald M. Murray famously argued that “all writing is autobiographical,” and disciplinary research in the last few decades has showcased how deeply personal all writing is, whether produced by students or their teachers. This workshop will ask participants to consider how the personal-pedagogical paradigm is impacted by generative AI. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring previous writing assessment or feedback examples that they’ve prepared to complete an individual reflection activity.
